The monumental building of Bitter en Zoet in Veenhuizen in the snow on a winter evening

Winter weeks

Magical Winter Weeks

The whole of January and February are the Magical Winter Weeks. Stay overnight in the monumental hospital, discover the National Prison Museum and sit down in the evening for a winterly three-course dinner. We transform the hotel into a cosy place that feels like coming home.

The story

Coming home inside a monument

In January and February Veenhuizen grows quiet. The avenues are bare, the sky hangs low, and when it snows the entire Colony looks enchanting. Exactly the time to slow down.

We transform the hotel into a cosy place that feels like coming home: warm lights, a crackling fire, blankets on the couch and the smell of something freshly baked from the kitchen.

Surround yourself with history, nature and hopefully a beautiful winter landscape. During the day you step straight from our monument into the museum or the countryside; in the evening you take a seat for a menu by head chef Peter and his brigade.
