World Heritage Public Day

Here is an inviting text for the agenda, beautifully combining the World Heritage milestone and the unique role of Bitter & Zoet:

5 Years of UNESCO World Heritage: Celebrate the Public Day in Veenhuizen On Saturday, May 9, 2026, we celebrate a special milestone: the Colonies of Benevolence have been a UNESCO World Heritage site for five years! In honor of this, the Prison Museum opens its doors for a festive public day full of discoveries, activities, and experiences. A day when the unique story of Veenhuizen comes closer than ever.

Discover the heart of care: Bitter & Zoet On this festive day, you are also very welcome at Bitter & Zoet. As the former health cluster from 1893, we are inextricably linked to this World Heritage site. Where doctors and pharmacists once provided care, you can now wander through history and experience the unique character of the old hospital.

Delicious food for young and old Complete your visit to the public day in our restaurant:

Special World Heritage Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch, specially prepared for this festive day with the best regional products.

For the little rascals: Our youngest guests are also catered for! While the adults enjoy the history, we serve a suitable menu for the children.
