Prison Day at Bitter en Zoet in Veenhuizen

Prison Day

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the National Prison Museum organizes the spectacular Prison Day. A unique opportunity to experience the world of justice and detention up close. From drug dogs and cell buses to re-enacted trials and conversations with former detainees; this is an educational and exciting day out for all ages.

A little 'leave' at Bitter & Zoet

After a day full of excitement and demonstrations, there's no better place to enjoy freedom again than at Bitter & Zoet. Located within walking distance of the museum, in the monumental 1893 health cluster, we offer a moment of calm in the turbulent history of the village.

Lunch & Recharge: Take a breather between activities with a delicious lunch in our restaurant. While you enjoy the tranquility of the old hospital, the 'little rascals' can enjoy their own favorite dishes with us.

Drinks on free feet: Discuss all the impressions of Prison Day with a good glass of wine or a local beer on our terrace or in the atmospheric lounge.

Stay 'put' (but luxuriously): Make it a complete weekend and stay overnight in one of our characterful rooms in the old pharmacy or the physician's house. An experience that - unlike prison - you'll never want to forget.

Practical: Prison Day lasts from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Reserve your table at Bitter & Zoet in advance to secure a spot outside the cell!
